Update vom Sonntag, 07.06.2020, 9.50 Uhr: Seit rund 100 Tagen ist das besonders stark von der Corona pandemic betroffene New York fest im Griff der Krise. Trotz allem soll in der Metropole am Montag (8. Juni) mit ersten Lockerungen der Corona-Beschränkungen begonnen werden.

new York erfülle nun alle Bedingungen für den Beginn eines Lockerungsprozesses – beispielsweise ausreichend freie Krankenhausbetten und ausreichend Tests – und könne als letzte der zehn Regionen des Bundesstaates loslegen, sagt Gouverneur Andrew Cuomo.

In der ersten dürfen beispielsweise Bauarbeiten wieder starten, in der vierten dürfen dann unter anderem auch Kultureinrichtungen wieder öffnen – auch wenn zahlreiche davon, wie beispielsweise die Metropolitan Oper, schon angekündigt haben, wohl nicht vor 2021 wieder loslegen zu wollen. Hygiene- und Abstandsregeln gelten weiter. Wenn sich die Zahlen verschlechtern, kann der Prozess jederzeit angehalten oder auch zurückgedreht werden. Der Enthusiasmus in der Stadt hält sich in Grenzen.

Update vom Samstag, 06.06.2020, 13.09 Uhr: Drei Monate legte das Corona virus Hollywood auf Eis, nun könnte der Film- und Fernsehbetrieb in den United States wieder anlaufen. Der kalifornische Gouverneur Gavin Newsom gab am Freitagabend (05.06.2020, Ortszeit) grünes Licht für einen Produktionsbeginn ab dem 12. Juni. Allerdings mit Vorbehalt und vielen Fragezeichen.

Laut Mitteilung der kalifornischen Gesundheitsbehörde müssen an den Drehorten zahlreiche Auflagen erfüllt werden. So darf eine kritische Schwelle von Covid-19-Fallzahlen in den Bezirken nicht überschritten werden, es muss ausreichende Testkapazitäten geben, und die Produktionsteams müssen strikte Hygieneregeln befolgen.

Eine Task Force der Unterhaltungsindustrie hatte am Montag (01.06.2020) einen 22-seitigen Entwurf für die Rückkehr an die Drehsets vorgelegt. Darin werden unter anderem häufige Covid-19-Tests und Fiebermessungen für Schauspieler und andere Mitarbeiter, Abstandsregeln und das Tragen von Schutzmasken empfohlen.

Ein besonderes Ärgernis für US President Donald Trump, denn der Wirtschaftsaufschwung war sein stärkstes Erfolgsargument. Seitdem das Corona virus auch in den United States wütet, haben dort über 40 Millionen Menschen teils komplett, teils zeitweise ihren Job verloren. Jetzt wurde die Arbeitslosenquote für den Monat Mai veröffentlicht.

Und die fällt weniger gravierend aus, als von Experten befürchtet. So ist die Arbeitslosenquote on 13,3 Prozent gesunken, im April waren es noch 14,7 Prozent. Aufgrund der horrenden Auswirkungen der Corona pandemic hatten Experten einen Anstieg auf 20th Prozent befürchtet.

Nebenbei verzettelt sich der 73-Jährige in einen Kleinkrieg mit seinem bevorzugten Sprachrohr Twitter. Der Mikroblogging-Dienst hatte Tweets des mächtigsten Mannes der Welt einem Faktencheck unterzogen und diese der Lüge überführt. Dem US-Präsidenten folgen bei Twitter in Zeiten der Corona crisis mehr als 80 Millionen Menschen.

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Zusätzlich zu den vielen Corona-Toten erschüttern aktuelle Proteste die USA. Ausgelöst wurden diese durch den Tod von George Floyd (†46). Der Afroamerikaner starb durch Polizeigewalt. Der Beamte Derek Chauvin (44) kniete minutenlang auf dem Hals des Vaters zweier Töchter, ignorierte dessen Hilferufe, dass er keine Luft mehr bekomme.

Die vielerorts friedlichen Proteste schlugen mitunter in Gewalt um. Bilder aus den USA zeigen gleichermaßen gewaltfreie Demonstranten mit Mundschutz (Mundschutz und Atemschutzmasken richtig desinfizieren – So wird es gemacht*) gegen Corona sowie Plünderungen von Supermärkten.

Während eine Autopsie des Leichnams von George Floyd ergab, dass dieser mit dem Corona virus infiziert gewesen war, geht Donald Trump in die Offensive. Der 73-Jährige soll einen Militäreinsatz im Falle der Proteste erwägen. 1600 Soldaten wurden in der US-Hauptstadt Washington zusammengezogen. Dort ist mit dem Weißen Haus der offizielle Amts- und Regierungssitz der USA.
